The ARLIS/NA Ad-Hoc Public Policy Committee is looking for one more person
interested in becoming an active committee member. The charge for the group
is as follows:
- Monitor governmental activities affecting art libraries and visual resource
collections;
- Draft position statements on legislative issues consistent with ARLIS/NA's
interests for review and action by the Executive Board;
- Report on governmental activities affecting the profession in the Society's
publications and on ARLIS-L;
- Collect and review information about legislative action concerning the
interests of the Society and recommend appropriate action;
- Maintain liaisons with other library and information societies as
appropriate, monitoring their activities and reports;
- Educate the membership on these issues.
Much of the work will be done electronically using e-mail and the Web. Our
first meeting is scheduled in Miami on Saturday, April 27 from 4:30-6.
Please let either of the co-chairs know if you are interested in working on
this committee.
