----------------------------Original message---------------------------- ###################### ANNOUNCEMENT ISEA 97 in Chicago The School of the Art Institute of Chicago will be hosting the 1997 International Symposium on Electronic Art in the latter part of Septmber. Tbe School, consistently rated one of the top art schools in the USA, is located near the lakefront in Chicago's downtown, "the Loop." Currently with an enrollment of over 1,500 undergraduates and 500 graduate students, the school's 22 departments, along with its galleries, auditoriums, and other facilities, are housed in two 14-story downtown buildings, the Columbus Drive wing of the Art Institute, and in a newly renovated large warehouse which is used for exhibition space. The symposium will include keynote and plenary speakers, workshops, paper presentations and panel discussion sessions, several gallery exhibits, and numerous performances. In addition to making use of the substantial resources available at The School and at The Art Institute of Chicago, we are working closely with several major Chicago cultural institutions as well as with area Universities to jointly present and coordinate a wide variety of events during the symposium week. Also, we are hoping to take advantage, through various special projects, of the excellent telecommunications possibilities which the school has to offer. We currently are planning to document the week's activities on a CD-ROM which will be available along with the proceedings of the symposum. Announcements concerning details of the symposium, which takes place in the third week of September, will be coming out shortly.
