The Association of Research Libraries/Office of Management Services
announces the following Management Skills Institute:

LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SKILLS INSTITUTE I: THE MANAGER
Houston, Texas
April 22-25, 1996

This training institute is a must for new and experienced managers who are
interested in becoming more effective in the rapidly changing environment.

The 3 1/2-day program will focus on the individual and the individual's
relationship to the library organization as a whole, including
relationships to peers, direct reports, and supervisors.  Through feedback
tools and learning experiences, you will have an opportunity to reflect on
your current approach to managerial and leadership responsibilities.

This program will explore and develop a range of concepts and techniques
associated with effective management so that you will broaden your ability
to function in your role and to contribute to the organization.

COST:  $490 per person for staff from ARL member libraries; $550 per person
for staff from non-ARL member libraries, plus travel and accomodations
