Questions Best, Stefanie _____________________________________________________ Sharing Lesson Plans Across Library Land: Welcome to the New Art, Architecture, and Design Lesson Plan Repository Abstract: The instructional responsibilities of art, architecture, and design librarians run the gamut from traditional research sessions to maker activities and work with special collections. Although lesson plan repositories for instruction librarians exist, they cover librarianship as a whole. Art, architecture, and design librarians that want to make use of these resources have to wade through lesson plans that don’t necessarily apply to their teaching and, if they do find something applicable, change it to make it subject specific. But what if there was a better way? What if a peer-to-peer digital open access lesson plan repository dedicated to art, architecture, and design existed where librarians could easily find lesson plans to help them discover and implement new teaching strategies that suit the specific needs of their disciplines? Recently, a group of art, architecture, and design librarians recognized the need for such a resource and developed best practices for its creation in the Humanities Commons CORE Repository. Attendees will learn how to search for lesson plans, as well as upload their own plans, including the submission process, appropriate subject tagging, and creative commons licensing. -- Stefanie Hilles, M.A., M.L.I.S.
