Hello Arlisians,I manage a small research library (22,000 volumes, 4,000 artist files, 600 linear feet of archives collections) housed within the office of our non-profit organization. The org is looking to vacate our current space into a different space with a better street presence and smaller footprint to accommodate a staff that is largely working remotely (except for the librarian!). In anticipation of a possible move within the year I am trying to be proactive and begin working on a moving plan as soon as possible.I recently joined the Space Planning SIG and I have begun a literature review, but I thought I would also ask the listserv if anyone has been involved directly in moving a sizable collection between separate buildings. Any tips, takeaways or pitfalls to share? I am a solo librarian, so I will need to enlist some outside help in the logistics of packing the collection.Feel free to contact me directly. I am happy to compile responses if others are interested in learning more as well.Beth GoodrichLibrarianDirect: 612-206-31181224 Marshall Street NE, Suite 200Minneapolis, MN 55413Sign up here to receive news of the ACC Library & Archives through our newsletterIf you value the rich resources available through the ACC Library & Archives, please consider a donation to the American Craft Council. We champion craft, and we'll continue to do so with your partnership!
