Error - unable to initiate communication with LISTSERV (errno=10061, phase=CONNECT, target=127.0.0.1:2306). The server is probably not started. Forwarding this from another listserv. The lectures are on Zoom and free, but I thought that some in this list might want to check out the reading list even if not attending the lecture series.

Dear all,

I’m delighted to invite you to sign up for the MAP Academy’s online lecture series ‘A History of Indian Craft: 1850s to the Present.’ Click here to learn more, and to register.

Developed in collaboration between the MAP Academy and the Art, Resources & Teaching Trust (A.R.T.), and presented by Dr Annapurna Garimella, the series comprises nine lectures, and will be held online on Zoom twice a week from 21st February to 20th March at 6pm IST. It will feature notable scholars and practitioners including Dr Nadine Zubair, Nia Thandapani, Dr Amanda Lanzillo, Laila Tyabji and Sudheer Rajbhar.

The series will trace the evolution of craft from the 19th century onwards, provide insights into the socio-political processes that shape the field, examine the pivotal roles of artisanal communities, designers, institutions and more and equip participants with new ways of thinking about and engaging with craft.

All lectures are free of charge and open to all. Those who attend all the lectures will receive access to supplementary reading materials and a Certificate of Attendance

We hope you might like to sign up for the lectures, and would be grateful if you might consider sharing this with your colleagues, students and wider network.
