Its holdings include more than 10 million printed volumes, 5 million manuscripts, 2 million non-print items, & extensive collections of digital text, data, & images.

Position Summary
PUL seeks an archival description professional to create & enhance metadata for over 400 18th & 19th Century Americana manuscript collections. Topics include politics, literature, & performing arts, among others. Primary duties include accessioning, appraising, & processing archival collections in all formats; managing & enhancing data for collections as required by current standards, user needs, & reparative frameworks; assisting with public services duties; proposing & contributing to collaborative initiatives at the team level; collaborating with curators, the Collection Services Team, Preservation, & Public Services on collections management ; managing audiovisual & large-scale digitization & processing projects; & supervising students. As a member of the Special Collections (SC) Archival Description & ProcessingTeam, the Processing Archivist works under the guidance of the Lead Processing Archivist & reports to the Asst. Univ. Librarian for SC Technical Services.

The successful candidate will be appointed as Associate Professional Specialist or more senior rank depending upon qualifications & experience.
