Sara Jane contributed an important essay to the compilation, Art Museum Libraries and Librarianship, on the history of the Cleveland Museum of Art Image Library.  (“From Lantern Slides to Slide Libraries to Image Collections: The View from the Cleveland Museum of Art.”)  She wrote it in 2006 after retiring from a thirty-eight-year career as slide and image librarian at the museum.  Her “Thoughts on Image Cataloging” still have resonance.  It was a pleasure to work with her on that poignant essay.

Thanks for sharing Sara Jane’s passing with us.  She was an important member of the VR community who I visited at the CMA years ago when I was doing research for SLIDE LIBRARIES.  She will be missed.  BJ

It is with great sorrow that I post the notice of the death of Sara Jane Pearman last Thursday, August 17th.  She was the Slide Librarian at The Cleveland Museum of Art for her entire career in the field of art information, as well as a teacher of art history, graphic design and decorative arts in the Cleveland area.  She was a friend to many in ARLIS/NA and VRA.
