I was very sorry to hear of Dannie Fermon’s death. He was a pillar of the
NYC Catalogers Discussion Group from its inception. You could always count
on him to show up at meetings, have something sensible and pragmatic to
say, and make sure that by the end of the meeting  somebody had volunteered
to host the next meeting (I had to smile when I saw this postscript at the
end of a report on one of the NYCCDG meetings: “Update: Daniel Fermon sent
an email message regarding the omission of a decision on the
date/time/place of the next CDG - this has not yet been resolved as of the
submission of these minutes.”)  Such a nice smile and a nice person.
