Do you work with material samples in your library, or are developing a material collection? Do you employ sensory and tactile learning experiences for student artists and designers? Do you support research about the emotive responses material selection has on design and the built environment? Like the Pop movement, does your library work strive to emphasize the connection between commercialization and consumerism with design’s history and contemporary practice?

If you’ve answered yes to one or more of these questions, we’d love to hear from you! The Materials SIG is proposing a pre-coordinate panel session (up to 4 speakers with a moderator) for the 2024 ARLIS/NA conference.

We seek library workers, artists, and designers engaged with instruction, collection development, or programming to share their haptic learning techniques and ideas. Please email a short (3-5 sentences) proposal to Shannon Robinson ([log in to unmask]) and Siobhan McKissic ([log in to unmask]) by Monday, August 21st to be considered.

Much appreciated,

Shannon and Siobhan
