Dear ARLIS colleagues;

I am writing to let you know that I will retire from my position at the Library of Congress tomorrow, June 30.

 

I have worked as the Decorative Arts and Architecture Reference Specialist at the Library for almost 35 years. I look forward to travel, museum exhibitions, joining ladies (and gents) who lunch and taking longer walks with our dog, Tweed. I also look forward to doing my own research at the Library! 

 

Throughout my career I have had wonderful opportunities; however, joining the ARLIS community and attending the first of many conferences in St. Louis, 2002, impacted and elevated my work, my professional relationships, contributed to the fun factor, and exponentially increased my knowledge in many artistic realms.

 

I have had wonderful experiences with ARLIS; for several years I worked with members of the Decorative Arts, Craft, and Design SIG on conference programs featuring regional decorative arts in our conference locales. I was honored to be a member of the planning committee for the 2014 conference in Washington D.C.  Welcoming ARLIS colleagues to the Library of Congress for the Convocation and reception in the Great Hall was a highlight of my career.

 

I plan to continue as a member of ARLIS/na and of my local Mid-Atlantic chapter, and will soon join the Retiree SIG! I understand that my position as the Decorative Arts and Architecture Specialist in the Researcher and Reference Services Division, here at the LoC will be advertised widely.
