Dear Colleagues,

We’re writing today with some important information on passports, customs procedures in Mexico, and the conference hotel.

US AND CANADIAN PASSPORTS

On Tuesday, the US State Department closed its online passport processing until March. Initial passport applications can still be made in person; renewal applications must be submitted via US mail.
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html

Regular processing can take 8-11 weeks and expedited processing will take 5-7 weeks.

We strongly advise that you select the expedited option.

For Canadians seeking a first-time or renewal application, the process requires much less time, but please be aware of the processes and options available.

For non-US/Canadian attendees, please consult your respective federal agency sites.

Mexico does not require future passport validity unlike some countries that require 3-6 months of a valid passport after your arrival.

MEXICO CUSTOMS

Good news: as of November 2022, Mexico no longer requires an immigration form to be completed upon entry (this is the card typically distributed on flights before arrival and required upon exiting the country). Clearing customs in Mexico now involves just presenting a valid passport to the customs officer after deplaning, resulting in a speedier process.

HILTON REFORMA CONFERENCE HOTEL

The rate of hotel reservations at the Hilton Reforma has been astounding: we reached 100% of our hotel block three months before the conference. We are aware that the online reservation site reflects this high number of bookings with uneven availability and we are working with the hotel to offer more rooms at the group rate.

If the booking page does not offer the dates and room type that you want, please email Hilton Reforma Reservations at [log in to unmask] with your request, identifying the ARLIS/NA conference.

The Reforma location, in addition to other nearby areas such as Centro and Roma Norte, will have many alternative hotels. The ARLIS/NA Event Manager is currently working with the Hilton Reforma to add more rooms at the group rate and/or suggest overflow properties for conference attendees.

THANK YOU!

The Conference Planning Advisory Committee could not be more pleased with the incredibly high response rates of paper, session, and poster proposals; conference and tour registrations; hotel reservations; and even the recent call for moderators. These all point to the conference being an amazing experience and achievement for the society … thanks to all of you!
