The IDSVA Librarian is a faculty-equivalent appointee who provides a wide range of professional services in the low-residency PhD program, in support of its research, teaching, and educational missions. The librarian oversees the development and management of a completely digital library, including reference and interlibrary loan services, to meet the curricular needs and accreditation requirements for remote learning and PhD research. The Librarian is in charge of developing collection and services that support student and faculty research. The Librarian is in charge of developing collection and services that support student and faculty research. This is a remote position, with the occasional participation in on-site residencies. Fluency in using video platforms and digital communication technology is a must.Salary range: $ 20-25K, based on an average of 15 hours per week.

About IDSVA The Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts PhD in Visual Arts is a non-studio PhD for artists and creative thinkers. IDSVA’s pioneering curriculum—fusing distance learning with intensive residencies—allows art professionals and creative thinkers to pursue rigorous advanced scholarship without having to interrupt or abandon their teaching careers, art practice, or other professional responsibilities. Our mission is to operate a school of graduate studies providing education in philosophy, aesthetics, art theory, and similar disciplines related to the visual arts. The mission includes the provision of doctoral studies to holders of the MFA or the master’s degree in a related field, the conferring of PhD degrees, and otherwise providing education and training related to the arts.
