Hi All,

Kick off the new year with the Intersectional Feminism & Art SIG Thinking
Group!

We will be reading/watching/thinking about a short selection of materials
related to intersectionality and art every other month & holding a group
discussion over Zoom. All ARLIS members who are curious about
intersectional feminism are welcome.

We have chosen the materials for the first meeting, but members of the
reading group are invited to submit ideas
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeDzaj-74xJ6DmENblX_kjNIzQuLFTsMMhsWn2MQiaWCCiNwQ/viewform>
for and vote on upcoming readings.

To develop a foundation on intersectionality and feminism, we will begin
with Crenshaw’s Demarginalizing the Intersection of Race and Sex: A Black
Feminist Critique of Antidiscrimination Doctrine, Feminist Theory and
Antiracist Politics and the first chapter from bell hooks’ Feminist Theory:
From Margin to Center. Here is a link

group on ARLIS Commons. You can find PDFs of the readings under the
“Documents” tab.

Our first discussion will be on January 10, 2023 at 11:00AM Eastern Time.
