Cecilia was was my first supervisor when I started working at the Ryerson & Burnham Libraries as a teenager. She was an adult so she seemed much older, but I imagine she couldn't be much more than 10 or 15 years older than me. What a survivor: to last through all the turmoil at the Smithsonian over the years. I kept in touch after she retired and she always wanted to hear what was new and to gossip. The best Chinese meal I ever had was when she escorted a small group of us to a restaurant in Chinatown in SF during that conference and did all the ordering. She will be missed.

She came to DC from the Art Institute of Chicago’s Ryerson & Burnham libraries. Between her retirement and her move to Michigan, she was an active docent for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art.
