The Getty Research Institute seeks a Manager of Cataloging & Metadata to oversee the Library’s Published Materials unit. The work conducted by this unit’s team of 7 professionals, 1 paraprofessional, and various project and contract staff revolves around one of the world’s largest distinctive collections of published materials in myriad languages and formats related to art, architecture, and visual culture. It includes large numbers of rare, antiquarian, modern, and contemporary books, serials, auction sales catalogs, ephemera, artists’ books, and electronic resources in a wide variety of languages. The ideal candidate will have experience or knowledge relating to most aspects of published materials cataloging and metadata, including rare book cataloging, original and copy cataloging, e-resource management, emerging metadata standards, and outsourcing. They will be dedicated to upholding the unit’s current high standards and contributions to national cooperative projects while considering improvements to current workflows for added effectiveness. They will demonstrate an appreciation of the uniquely complex aspects of cataloging art-related published materials.
