Here are some ideas of collections that might hold physical samples:

The Textile Museum

The Sage Collection at Indiana University

National Museum of American History Textile Collection

Tatter has an interesting collection of darning tools with digitized images linked on its website.

The Costume Society of America also has a webpage listing different textile collections across the US and Canada.

Hello all,

I’m writing on behalf a textile author who is looking for darning/mending samples from around the world. Cornell has some examples in our Home Economics collections but I’m wondering what other repositories might also have samples - and from what countries/time periods?

She is mainly looking for physical samples.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
