Arts Librarian for Drama, Theater and Performance Studies, and Art History - Yale University, New Haven, CT

Position Focus:

The Robert B. Haas Family Arts Library at Yale seeks a library liaison for the David Geffen School of Drama and the Department of Theater and Performance Studies. Responsibilities include collection development, instruction, reference, and outreach. Working collaboratively with Arts colleagues, this position also supports teaching, learning, research, and creative activities across the art and design disciplines through reference and instructional services. Supports the instruction needs for the Department of Art History. With the director and four other Arts librarians, participates in overall Arts Library planning and helps to foster a creative, collaborative, and team-oriented work environment. Participates in library system-wide planning, committees, and work groups, and engages in campus, regional and national professional organizations, and collaborative activities. Monitors developments and best practices elsewhere to help ensure the excellence of Yale's collections and research support services.

Essential Duties:
  1. Provides research support to students and faculty in academic departments and schools through consultations, instruction sessions, and reference services. Serves as the primary liaison to the David Geffen School of Drama and the Department of Theater and Performance Studies and supports the instruction needs for the Department of Art History. Supports research and raises awareness of information resources through outreach efforts.
  2. Creates and maintains online guides and other research support tools.
  3. Collaborates with other librarians and archivists to support research and teaching.
  4. Monitors developments and best practices elsewhere to help ensure the excellence of Yale's collections and research support services.
  5. May create online exhibits as part of the exhibits program at Haas Arts Library.
  6. Acquires resources in all formats.
  7. Participates in library system-wide planning, committees, and work groups, and engages in campus, regional, and national professional organizations, and collaborative activities. Participates in professional activities outside of Yale and monitors developments and best practices elsewhere to help ensure the excellence of Yale's collections and research support services.
  8. May be required to assist with disaster recovery efforts.
  9. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited Library school and an undergraduate or advanced degree in the visual arts/design, art history, architecture, or drama/theater. Required Skill/Ability 1:

Knowledge of drama, theater studies, and dance reference sources, both print and online, as well as general art and design reference sources.
