Our library has re-organized and is leaving the liaison model behind for functional specialties. Since I'll no longer be the art/art history/design/architecture librarian, and will instead be focusing on IL skills throughout the general arts and humanities, I'm left wondering:

How does accreditation work for those programs and departments that require a designated librarian? Anyone have any experience in making the functional model work for an area such as architecture?

How will this affect organizations such as ARLIS? While there is certainly value in retaining membership in order to at least inform my continuing instructional duties, does this shift cause a wane on realizing full benefits from joining such a society?

Anybody want to vent or share anecdotes about such a change and how they coped?

thanks for any information and advice you can spare!
