Dear ARLIS members –
The ARLIS/NA Cataloging Section
is seeking a Vice-Moderator for the 2022-2023 year!
The purpose of the Cataloging Section is to provide a general forum for art catalogers and to develop and support programs of interest to catalogers at the annual conference. Many of the cataloging concerns raised by members of the Section are taken up by the
Cataloging Advisory Committee, which prepares formal recommendations on cataloging policy.
As Vice-Moderator, you will assist in managing and soliciting content for the Catablog, help develop cataloging-related programming for the Conference and Annual Meeting, and collaborate with other ARLIS groups to facilitate discussion
on cataloging related issues. Typically, the Vice-Moderator takes on the Moderator position in the following year. This is a great way to get involved with ARLIS, and those who are new to cataloging are welcome to apply! A volunteer application can be submitted
here:

Additionally, the Cataloging Section Annual Meeting
is scheduled for Friday, March 25 at 2 p.m. CDT. Typically, we invite ARLIS members to share recent cataloging and metadata related projects. Examples include work at your library related to Critical/Ethical Cataloging, Linked Data, or how remote/hybrid
work affected cataloging labor in the post-2020 environment. The discussion is meant to be informal! Please email me at
[log in to unmask] if you have any items to add to the agenda!
If you’re looking to contribute to ARLIS/NA positions on cataloging policy or act as a liaison to affiliated groups in ALA, the
Cataloging Advisory Committee
is also looking for a new member this year! You may also apply to this role via the Call for Volunteers form.
Thanks, all, and I look forward to seeing many of you at the annual meeting, or in-person at the Conference!
Best,
Sarah Hamerman (she/they)
