In Summer 2021, the Anti-Racism Task Force invited current and former members, as well as non-members who are familiar with ARLIS/NA, to participate in an anonymous survey. The survey assessed people’s experiences with personal and structural racism in ARLIS/NA. This survey was designed to help the task force collect, disaggregate, and report relevant data to get a clearer picture of inequities that we see in the visual arts information profession and the organization, as compared with the broader field of librarianship and its affiliated professions. Understanding past experiences with systemic racism at ARLIS/NA is a necessary part of making ARLIS/NA a more inclusive, diverse, and equitable organization now and in the future.
