UPDATE:  The members of the ARLIS/NA Applauds Award Committee have extended the nomination deadline for this award to Monday, January 24, at midnight PST

Your nomination will help to shine the light on a 2021 initiative that has advanced the work of the Society, to recognize and celebrate important work by members.  The Award includes a year's ARLIS/NA membership, official acknowledgements and (of course) applause!

NOMINATION DETAILS:

The ARLIS/NA Applauds Award honors an individual or a group of up to five persons to recognize an outstanding contribution to the Society’s work during the preceding calendar year.

If you’ve been considering a nomination for the ARLIS/NA Applauds Award, the nomination form is now linked from the Applauds Award page.  Deadline for nominations is midnight on Monday, January 24, 2022 (extended from January 17).

The nomination form asks nominators to address the following:

  1. Please describe the outstanding contribution made by the nominee(s), using the criteria list at the top of this form as a guide, providing details as to how this has advanced ARLIS/NA’s work.  (maximum 500 words)
  2. Please outline the scope of the impact of this work, for example, the groups of ARLIS/NA members affected, recognition beyond the Society, enduring value, etc. (maximum 300 words)

All current ARLIS/NA members are eligible to submit nominations (except for the Applause Awards committee members).

All current ARLIS/NA members are eligible to be nominated (except for the Executive Board and the Applause Awards committee members).

If you’re not sure what an outstanding contribution looks like, the Applause Awards committee members offer these examples of initiatives undertaken by ARLIS/NA members in recent years:

  • Notable Graphic Novel Reviews launched (2019)
  • Advocacy & Public Policy Committee News Alerts launched (2015)
  • The ARLIS/NA Learning Portal becomes open access (2015)
  • Art Documentation becomes a peer-reviewed journal (2009)
  • ARLIS/NA year long mentoring program established (2007)
  • White papers, best practices, competencies and other standards documents produced to support members in their individual positions and pursuits
