General Summary

Illinois State University's Milner Library seeks a creative, collaborative, and user-oriented tenure-track Fine Arts Librarian, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Reporting to the Head of the Arts and Humanities Subject Group, the Fine Arts Librarian will cultivate partnerships within the library and across campus to identify and meet the informational needs of the Wonsook Kim School of Art, School of Theatre and Dance, Creative Technologies Program, and University Galleries. In addition to their own research and scholarship, the Fine Arts Librarian will engage students in the learning process by teaching instruction sessions and workshops, creating online guides and digital learning objects, and providing research consultations. They will develop and maintain diverse, representative collections for the assigned subject areas. They will collaborate with library colleagues in University Archives, Special Collections, and other areas to connect with faculty interested in using these collections. The Fine Arts Librarian will form an integral part of the campus arts community by attending faculty and committee meetings and events and developing partnerships with faculty for teaching, collection development, research support, and related projects.

This is a tenure-track faculty position. Faculty members are supported through the efforts of Milner Library’s Faculty Research and Development Committee, receive professional development and travel support, and are eligible for university grants to support scholarly and creative activities.

Required Qualifications

• Advanced degree from an ALA-accredited graduate program or an ALA recognized international equivalent
• Evidence of reference and/or liaison work that demonstrates a strong public
services commitment
• Demonstrated experience with teaching information fluency
• Evidence of ability to engage in scholarly productivity
• Evidence of excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills 
• Demonstrated subject knowledge of fine and/or performing arts resources and
research methodologies
• This position is subject to a criminal background investigation based on
University Policy 3.1.30 and any offer of employment is contingent upon you passing a
satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the
criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human
Resources.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

 This is a 12-month position. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. 24 vacation days and 11 paid holidays per year.
