Dear ARLIS-L,

The Summer Educational Institute for Digital Stewardship of Visual
Information <http://seiworkshop.org> (SEI) is actively recruiting
applicants for the position of Junior Co-Chair, the first year of a
two-year SEI commitment. It is a great opportunity for resume building and
networking. SEI offers Co-Chairs a stipend for their time.

SEI is a joint project of the Art Libraries Society of North America
<https://www.arlisna.org/> (ARLIS/NA) and the Visual Resources Association
Foundation <https://vrafoundation.org/> (VRAF). SEI is an intensive three
and a half-day workshop that features curriculum taught by expert
instructors who present an overview of the digital life cycle in a broad
range of topics.

The two year SEI Co-Chair commitment will be structured like this, with
full position descriptions below:

   -

July 2021–June 2022: SEI Faculty Liaison and Junior Co-Chair
   -

   July 2022–June 2023: SEI Senior Co-Chair

SEI 2022 will be held virtually. We do not yet know the format and/or
location for SEI 2023 or SEI 2024, but we anticipate making a decision
about SEI 2023 in early 2022.

To apply, please email your resume and a brief statement of interest to SEI
Co-Chair Molly Szymanski ([log in to unmask]) by August 20, 2021. We
expect to onboard the new Junior Co-Chair in mid-September with biweekly
team meetings. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the
Co-Chair roles, I would be happy to discuss over email, phone, or Zoom.

Best,

Molly Szymanski, SEI Co-Chair

SEI Faculty Liaison and Junior Co-Chair ($1,500 stipend)

The SEI Junior Co-Chair is the second year-long position of a three-year
SEI Commitment, and works closely with the SEI Senior Co-Chair on the
leadership and implementation of all aspects of SEI. The SEI Junior
Co-Chair is responsible for taking the minutes for all SEI Implementation
Team Meetings; for collaborating with the SEI Senior Co-Chair to divide
leadership responsibilities and tasks evenly and fairly; for taking
responsibility for the implementation of the SEI timeline and other tasks
in the absence of the SEI Senior Co-Chair; for being “on the ground” at
SEI; and for working closely with the Incoming Co-Chair to make certain
that they understand the responsibilities of their role. As Faculty
Liaison, the Junior Co-Chair serves as the primary contact with all SEI
faculty prior to and during the Summer Educational Institute. The Faculty
Liaison is also responsible for facilitating faculty contact with students
prior to SEI, and for collecting any curriculum-related materials. Areas of
particular emphasis include recruiting and inviting SEI faculty; working
closely with the SEI Curriculum Specialists and SEI faculty to develop
their specific modules and instructional materials; and maintaining all
logistical information related to faculty, including arrival and departure
information. At the conclusion of SEI, the Junior Co-Chair is responsible
for archiving copies of previous year's final documents in Basecamp.

SEI Senior Co-Chair ($1,500 stipend)

The SEI Senior Co-Chair is the final year-long position of a three-year SEI
commitment, and takes primary responsibility for the leadership and
implementation of all aspects of SEI, with the assistance and sharing of
responsibilities with the SEI Junior Co-Chair. The SEI Senior Co-Chair is
responsible for establishing and running all SEI Implementation Team
meetings; for making certain that the SEI Timeline is being followed and
tasks completed by individual Implementation Team members; for primary
oversight of the SEI budget and registration process; oversight of contract
negotiations with the host institution; for being “on the ground” at SEI;
and for formal reporting to the ARLIS/NA Board, the VRAF Board, and for
other groups (for example, the Kress Foundation) that have contributed to
SEI. Finally, the Senior Co-Chair is responsible for taking charge of all
of the documentation aspects of the year which include: setting up the
Implementation Team Google Site for the year, bringing a copy of previous
year's documents over to Google Drive folder for the current year, and
giving team members access to appropriate Google folders and the Google
site.
