As noted in President Mark Pompelia’s message to the membership in June, ARLIS/NA will be launching a working group to redesign the organization's strategic planning process.  Over the next 12 to 18 months, the Ad hoc Committee for Strategic Planning will craft new mission and vision statements, revise the core values statement, and prepare a strategic plan with implementation tools to guide ARLIS/NA into the future. The committee will include representatives from the board and related committees, as well as two members at large from our membership.

While the work will rely heavily on input and regular feedback from the membership, having members present at the table will be important to the process and product.  If you are interested in being one of the two members at large, consider submitting your name for consideration by completing the volunteer form.

Background:
Based on recommendations from the Strategic Directions Committe, the Strategic Planning Refresh Task Force was created by the board and tasked with suggesting the composition of a new group and a revised process to improve ARLIS/NA's strategic planning activities. The improvements are intended to provide greater connectivity between the executive board, the strategic planning body, and strategic planning.

Project deliverables:
  • Complete an environmental scan
  • Gather feedback from members and executive board
  • Develop mission and vision statements
  • Prepare, revise, and finalize strategic plan
  • Share strategic priorities with members, stakeholders, and executive board
  • Develop operational (implementation) plan
