Lyn, congratulations on a professional life filled with significant contributions to ARLIS/NA.  I fondly remember working with you in the Fine Arts Library at Indiana University—a position that Bill Bunce recommended as I recall.  Visiting you at UC/Santa Barbara when you were head of the Arts Library there was a fond memory as well as when you hosted our Midstates meeting at the Kohler Art Library when you introduced us to an amazing artists’ books collection.  Of course, we also roomed together through over a decade of ARLIS/NA conferences. Our professional friendship was one of the highlights of my career.  Thank you so much for your collegial and personal friendship.  BJ Irvine

Dear ARLIS/NA Community,

After 21 years, I've finally reached my last day as Director of the Kohler Art Library at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  I couldn't have done my job without the strong support of the ARLIS/NA organization and library colleagues.  I became a member in 1980 while still a student. Bill Bunce was my dear mentor and urged me to join the Standards Committee that he chaired.  Since then, I have served on various ARLIS/NA committees and on the ARLIS/NA Executive Board including being President in 1990.  My favorite memory from my presidency was the strategic planning weekend in Santa Barbara where a lively group of members met in the Cheshire Cat B & B in the presence of several very fluffy and inquisitive white felines. I also note that at that time Board communication was done either by phone of postal mail!  Pam Parry, Executive Director, made everything run smoothly, thank goodness.  That year we had some early discussions about developing the ARLIS/NA listserv.  The work that ARLIS/NA has accomplished since then has been truly amazing!

The UW-Madison General Library System has a hiring freeze, but I am happy to announce that Anna Simon, the current Art Reference and Instruction Librarian, has been appointed Interim Head of the Kohler Art Library, effective July 2.  Congratulations to Anna!

All best wishes and hope to see you in Chicago.
