Although we have a subscription to the Oxford Art Online, we still have the hardcopy in the Reference Collection. Before the COVID closure, I used to give an old-fashioned walking tour of the Reference Collection as part of the art history grad seminar (research methods) and explained how the printed Index volume worked and how the index is structured, pointing out also that one can learn new scholarly vocabulary just by browsing the print index which you may not get by searching online with keywords, but helps further searches online. This may sound old-fashioned because it is. There’s a pressure to downsize the Reference Collection and I may have to move the set in the future, but I’ll still keep it in the regular stack. Thanks. We don’t have an art history program as such and the electronic edition works for studio and arts & culture program. I don’t think faculty members have noticed it’s no longer in the collection.
