About the University of Toronto Libraries The University of Toronto Libraries system is the largest academic library in Canada and is consistently ranked in the top ten among academic research libraries in North America. The system consists of 42 libraries located on three university campuses: St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough. This array of college libraries, special collections, and specialized libraries and information centres supports the teaching and research requirements of over 300 graduate programs, more than 70 professional programs, and about 700 undergraduate degree programs. In addition to more than 15 million volumes in 341 languages, the library system currently provides access to millions of electronic resources in various forms and over 31,000 linear metres of archival material. More than 150,000 new print volumes are acquired each year. The Libraries' data centre houses more than 500 servers with a storage capacity of 1.5 petabytes. About The Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design The Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design offers graduate programs in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, forestry, and visual studies as well as undergraduate programs in architectural studies and visual studies and has grown significantly in terms of both its student population and diversity of program offerings. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Librarian, the Architecture Librarian will lead the services, resources, and staff of the Eberhard Zeidler Architecture Library, which is based in a thriving and evolving Faculty. The successful candidate will provide vision and strategic direction to the Library and offer leadership, support and mentorship to library employees. Building on these successful partnerships, the Architecture Librarian will liaise and proactively engage with Daniels’ diverse community, including faculty, both undergraduate and graduate students, administrators, potential donors and members of the larger community, fostering innovative programs and services in order to meet their growing needs and cultivating and sustaining collaborative relationships in support of research, teaching and learning. The Architecture Librarian will work collegially with the Head of the Earth Sciences Library who liaises with the Forestry program and with the Art Librarian, who liaises with the Department of Art. As a collegial member of the Eberhard Ziedler library team, the Architecture Librarian will directly participate in library services. The Librarian will build collections in the areas of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, visual studies, art and art history that address current and emerging curricular and research needs. The Librarian will collaborate with UTL colleagues to support emerging scholarly needs at Daniels related to GIS and geospatial data, humanities data curation and publishing. The Librarian will design and provide instruction, including embedded information literacy instruction at the graduate and undergraduate level. As an active member of the University of Toronto Libraries management team, the Librarian will participate in central library committees and work with UTL administrative colleagues to implement UTL’s strategic plan, develop strategic directions and assess service quality. Required Qualifications: * A degree from an accredited Master’s level program in library and information studies * Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills * Demonstrated commitment to the values of inclusivity, diversity, equity and accessibility * Relationship building, communication and interpersonal skills, with proven experience creating and fostering a positive working environment * Capacity to thrive in an environment of change and to nurture that capacity in others * Experience using a collaborative approach to develop user‐centered services with demonstrated outcomes; outstanding service orientation and public service experience * Proven teaching experience * Excellent knowledge of the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and/or visual studies * Demonstrated planning, decision making and problem-solving skills. Flexible and able to manage competing priorities in a timely manner * Strong evidence of a growth mindset: a librarian who demonstrates flexibility, creativity, and resilience, with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth Preferred Qualifications: * An advanced degree in a discipline related to Art, Architecture or Design * Collection development skills: experience developing, managing, and assessing library collections * Familiarity with digital scholarship and/or digital humanities * Experience working with Drupal * Working knowledge of additional languages relevant to the fields of art and architecture * Familiarity with GIS/geospatial services and tools Salary and Terms of Appointment Salary and appointment level are based on experience and qualifications.
