Dear All,
I would like to share some upcoming workshops and an exhibit on immigration, the environment and equal rights. Please see below and share with collegues.

Crossroads - Hunterdon Museum of Art - opening May 2021 - https://hunterdonartmuseum.org/crossroads-book-artists-impressions-immigration-human-rights-environment/ <https://hunterdonartmuseum.org/crossroads-book-artists-impressions-immigration-human-rights-environment/> - Curator: Maria G Pisano

Statement: We are at a crossroad, our world is changing in myriad ways: refugees and migrants are being displaced, our environment is visibly in peril and there are constant conflicts/wars between countries and nations. These changes are jarring and artists are reacting, lending their voices and presenting book works that reflect our tumultuous times. The artists in this exhibit showcase and share personal stories, positive and reflective changes that they observe, alongside concerns for our current policies towards immigration, climate change and equal rights.

Workshops:

Two in One: Altering the Page Accordion Book and The Flexagon Book with Maria G. Pisano
Saturday, June 26th, 11am-5pm - Outdoor Workshop
https://www.frontlinearts.org/upcoming-events/2021workshops/twoinonebookbinding <https://www.frontlinearts.org/upcoming-events/2021workshops/twoinonebookbinding>
.
THE FLEXAGON BOOK is a movable book springs to life when opened, like a flower. We will use stencils and stamp pads to create our unique designs, and bring all together and bind this wonderful book. Once complete, we will be making a beautiful box enclosure to hold your creation.

ALTERING THE PAGE ACCORDION BOOK - The accordion book structure is a flexible form that can be adapted to many book themes, and one is the Altered Page Book. A blank page holds a lot of potential – one can alter it via folding, cutting, collaging, adding and subtracting parts, and more. Learn about sequencing, layering and folding to arrive at your pages. These in turn will be assembled to become part of an accordion book you’ve created with your unique designs. Do you acquire and save ephemera in your travels and daily life, do you have lots of beautiful papers and scraps that you saved for a special project, any old prints that you want to repurpose? We will use all your stored riches to collage the pages and create a new work to store them in.

A TO Z FLEXAGON ALPHABET BOOK - Thursday April 15, 2021 - 2-4
This movable book, with great content potential, springs to life when opened. We will use collage materials to cut our letters and backgrounds to enrich the designs to create our pages and bring them all together to bind this wonderful alphabet book to share with young learners or give as a gift.
