Dear ARLIS/NA colleagues, As Head of the Smithsonian Libraries and Archives Art Department, I am so pleased to announce that Jen Cohlman Bracchi has been promoted to the position of Head Librarian at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum Library<https://www.cooperhewitt.org/collections/library/>! She comes to this position having worked at the CHM Library for nearly 20 years, first as a technician, then as reference librarian, and since 2019, as acting branch head after Stephen Van Dyk retired. Prior to her time at the CHM Library, Jen actually worked for the museum as their first digital imaging specialist, at the forefront of work to digitize their collection. In her time with the Smithsonian, Jen has spearheaded major projects and managed high-profile initiatives. This includes leading grant-funded digitization efforts for rare books, special collections and mass digitization efforts. She has served on Metropolitan New York Library Council's (METRO) Digital Services Advisory Council and Digital Grants Review Committee. She curated her first exhibition Color in a New Light<https://library.si.edu/exhibition/color-in-a-new-light> (February 2016 - May 2017) for Smithsonian Libraries at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC. She co-curated the expanded exhibition Saturated: The Allure and Science of Color<https://www.cooperhewitt.org/channel/saturated/> (May 2018 - March 2019) for Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum with Susan Brown, Curator of Textiles. In all of these, Jen has had an eye for building on the Cooper Hewitt's significant collections and enabling their access, and working hand in hand with both libraries and museum colleagues.
