More details on each of these below:

ARLIS/NA 2021 Virtual Conference
The annual conference is coming together! The schedule is being finalized and registration is due to open later this month on the conference website<https://www.arlisna.org/2021-conference-home>. Look for the call for the poster sessions and more conference news soon. Thank you to the conference co-chairs Adèle Flannery, Jennifer Garland, Pierre B. Landry, John Latour, and Viveca Pattison Robichaud, and Meeting Planner Megan Brouwer for their ongoing work to make this year's conference an engaging and informative event.

Transition to McKenna Management Continues
We are approaching six months now with the new "headquarters," McKenna Management, and the board and I have been pleased and impressed with how much they've been able to accomplish while dealing with some outdated systems and complicated processes. McKenna joined us at a very busy time in the organization's year, and they dived right in to facilitate annual membership renewals and assist with conference planning. I hope many of you have had the chance to meet our new Executive Director, Cambria Happ ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>), and the McKenna team who work with ARLIS/NA. Among the changes ARLIS/NA members will see are new contacts and new roles in our management company partners, including:

  * Meeting Planner Megan Brouwer ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>), who is helping to plan ARLIS/NA's annual conference
  * Gabrielle Webster ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>), Deputy Executive Director, who works with the chapters, divisions, sections, and Special Interest Groups
  * Emily Clifford ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>), Program Coordinator, our contact for website support and communications
  * Michaela Sawicki ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>), Program Coordinator, who assists members with membership renewals and supports Megan Brouwer on the annual conference
  * Michele Sperry ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>), Accountant, who is facilitating the financial review with our external audit firm and working to refine financial administration and reporting with Treasurer Doug Litts

There will be more changes to come as the transition continues and we look to make updates to our systems and processes. If you have questions at any time, don't hesitate to contact any member of the team.

Editorial Board Changes
As we move closer to the launch of the ARLIS/NA Commons, the ARLIS/NA Editorial Board welcomes new member Michelle Wilson, digital publishing librarian at Columbia University as the editor of the forthcoming Digital Art History Directory (DAHD) as an online publication. This position replaces the web site content editor, whose duties are now assigned to headquarters team member Emily Clifford. Succeeding Notable Graphic Novels Review co-editor Andrew Wang is Nicole Santiago, information literacy librarian at the University of Pennsylvania.

The editorial board is seeking applications for two positions, and there is still time to apply. If you are ready for a rewarding and important role in the society's publishing program, please consider serving as a co-editor for ARLIS/NA Reviews or Multimedia & Technology Reviews. See the announcement<https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.arlisna.org%2Fnews%2Fnews-events%2F2229-the-arlis-na-executive-board-invites-applications-for-two-open-positions&data=04%7C01%7Caetrendler%40bsu.edu%7C16cb848a1080440e359008d8e8c35fd2%7C6fff909f07dc40da9e30fd7549c0f494%7C0%7C1%7C637515273130283371%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=ArhhGHDfmaQ346Y54J2NfQTv%2BbIE5n1ODo6J9q5WALo%3D&reserved=0> or contact editorial director Roger Lawson ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) if you have any questions.

OCLC Offers Discount to Smaller Art Libraries
OCLC is now offering a discount for smaller arts libraries that have OCLC Cataloging or CatExpress subscriptions but do not have a FirstSearch/WorldCat Discovery subscription. The company is also making improvements to messages in WorldCat.org for libraries that contribute cataloging records but do not maintain subscriptions to WorldCat Discovery. Thank you to ARLIS/NA member Sam Duncan for bringing attention to this important issue and to Past President Laura Schwartz for working with OCLC to find a solution. See Laura's message to ARLIS-l from February 23, 2021<http://lsv.arlisna.org/scripts/wa.exe?A2=ind2102&L=ARLIS-L&P=68587> for more information.

COVID Task Force Survey
The Task Force on Art Libraries' Response to COVID-19 has now opened a survey to collect member and institutional data from the past year. Please take a moment to complete the survey,<https://forms.gle/wTDcfReMzBp5n1ocA> and look for a second survey on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on institutional resources and individual ARLIS/NA members soon. Thanks to task force co-chairs Amy Furness and Mark Pompelia, and members Tess Colwell, Tony White, Abi Sweeney, Margot Nishimura, Caley Cannon, Hee Jung Lee, Veronica McGurrin, Paula Farrar, Stacy Williams, Stefanie Hilles, and Vaughan Hennen for their work gathering this important information. Their environmental scan of existing surveys and data sources is available here<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_RF-tBxwvEDgVtKdqNhQhq8HKVeAVVeB_rVZoHIPJoE/edit?usp=sharing>.

New Strategic Planning Model Under Development
With the goal of improving ARLIS/NA's strategic planning processes and implementation, the board convened a task force to propose revisions to the society's strategic planning model and practices. Building on the work of the Strategic Directions Committee, and comprised of members from the current committee and the board, this task force will evaluate potential models for their appropriateness for ARLIS/NA. There will be a feedback component to their work in which they will seek out input from membership. Information on that can be expected in the coming weeks. They hope to complete their work by early summer. The Task Force includes Amy Furness, Cambria Happ, Dan Lipcan, Emilee Mathews, Mark Pompelia, Rebecca Price (chair), Lori Salmon, Laura Schwartz, Heather Slania, and Karina Wratschko.

Volunteer for 2021-2022 Committees and Affiliated Organization Liaison Roles
Finally, the ARLIS/NA activities and achievements like the ones highlighted above are made possible by the work of the organization's volunteer members. The volunteer form for 2021-2022 ARLIS/NA committee members, committee chairs, and affiliated organization liaisons<https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Farlisna.us11.list-manage.com%2Ftrack%2Fclick%3Fu%3Dcfa1020333fd2ab380b990dc4%26id%3Dc774f12cdb%26e%3Dd03d4e586f&data=04%7C01%7Caetrendler%40bsu.edu%7C8e91952e28e7427116ff08d8de52d61a%7C6fff909f07dc40da9e30fd7549c0f494%7C0%7C0%7C637503794644043262%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=2Jx7TIw%2B9uuHbWbtUQHNJBLaje02VDkm9a%2BzaSQ%2BMv0%3D&reserved=0> is available through March 31. Please take a moment to consider volunteering yourself or encouraging a colleague to apply. Questions may be directed to Vice President/President Elect Mark Pompelia, [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

ARLIS/NA is an active organization and I anticipate more news and highlights to come this spring. In the meantime, don't hesitate to be in touch if you have any questions.

Best,
Amy
