In a time where the urgency of making is not only prevalent, but necessary, we invite you to join us for the upcoming Contemporary Artists' Book Conference!
Founded in 2008, the CABC will be presented as part of Printed Matter’s Virtual Art Book Fair, February 26-28, 2021.
Admission is FREE for all sessions, but space is limited. To ensure you are able to enter the zoom rooms please RSVP for all individual conference sessions that you plan to attend. This year, CABC will focus on “The Temperature of Art Book Criticism and Scholarship” across three full days of panels, convenings, and a closing plenary representing artists, scholars, writers from across the globe. We'll cover subjects including the roles of institutions, the function of artists books in crisis and justice, perspectives on insider vs. outsider makers and marginalized communities, and the art of the book in the face of oppression and censorship

We have no doubt this will be an incredible weekend of interdisciplinary conversations towards developing new critical tools for assessing artists books and their broader impact in our vast cultural field. Together, we can envision future topics for investigation and generate a constellation that strengthens, expands and enhances the practice.

Funding for the conference is provided in part by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Special thanks to our program sponsors Brooklyn RailSorted Library, and Small Editions. Check out our website for more information!
