Dear colleagues,

Clare and I are reaching out as the new co-coordinators of the Archaeology & Classics SIG.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve in this SIG on the study of archaeology and antiquity and library collections.

We would like to hear from you how the Archaeology and Classics SIG can support your work and goals and how you would like to be involved. This will help identify and define potential projects and collaborations for the coming year.

We think it would be appropriate to address, in the SIG’s name, a broad geographic and chronological scope to better reflect today’s attention to global studies of antiquities heritage and archaeological sites, as well as diversity and decolonization concerns.

Based respectively with the Bodleian Libraries and in the Getty Research Institute, Clare and I are interested in the study of how photography has informed the study of archaeology and associated buildings and objects. If you have an interest in sharing your work in this area and/or any other topic focusing on archaeology, we would love to hear from you.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further inquiry.

Subject: [ARCHAEOLOGY_SIG] New Leadership!

Dear Archaeology and Classics SIGians,

I am delighted to write with news of a change in leadership in the Archaeology and Classics SIG. As of last week, Clare Hills-Nova (Bodleian Library) and Isotta Poggi (Getty Research Institute) have assumed the positions of co-coordinators (https://www.arlisna.org/organization/sigs).

I'd like to thank all of you in the SIG for your support and contributions over the last couple of years--support and contributions that allowed us to take some important steps in expanding the SIG's potential (proposing and instituting an AIA Liaison; running our first distributed/ online annual meeting). Having spoken a couple of weeks ago to Clare and Isotta, I know that they have exciting ideas for projects and new directions in which to take the SIG and I'm very much looking forward to supporting them in these new initiatives.

Hope all is well with you and yours.

Thanks and best wishes,

-- David
