Dear Colleagues,

The VRA Awards Committee is seeking nominations for the *2021 Nancy
DeLaurier Award*, which honors a single professional or a group of
professionals for distinguished achievement in the field of visual
resources. “Achievement” is measured by immediate impact, and may take the
form of published works, oral presentations, digital humanities projects,
open source solutions, software development, technology applications,
website creations, or other outstanding efforts.

We encourage the VRA membership to consider the tools that have made an
impact on your work in visual resources: research, presentations, projects,
publications, tools, technologies, etc. For inspiration, these are the
recent past recipients:

2017 - Anne Young for the *Rights & Reproductions: The Handbook for
Cultural Institutions;*

2016 - Developers of VRA Core (Esme Cowles, Ben Kessler, Trish
Rose-Sandler, Jan Eklund);

2015 - Editors of *Cataloging Cultural Objects* (Murtha Baca, Patricia
Harpring, Elisa Lanzi, Linda McRae, Ann Whiteside).

Who would you like to recognize for a specific contribution to our
field? Please
consider nominating a worthy colleague or specific achievement for this
prestigious DeLaurier Award.

An e-mail of intent or query can set the process in motion! Just describe
the nature of the nominee’s achievements and the Awards Committee can work
with you to procure the nominee’s curriculum vitae and letters of support
for the nomination. Recommendations from the Awards Committee are subject
to approval by the VRA Executive Board. Nomination documents will be
retained in the Association Archives.

We look forward to learning about the many terrific efforts happening
across the Visual Resources Association and within the profession as well
as hearing from you soon.

*The nomination letters and letters of support** for the 2021 Nancy
DeLaurier Award are being accepted until January 5th, 2021.*

*Please contact me ([log in to unmask] <[log in to unmask]>) or any member
of the Awards Committee:

<http://vraweb.org/about/committees/awards-committee/>.* We would be very
happy to help with your ideas and the process.

Addendum: Due to the cancellation of the VRA 2020 Baltimore conference with
the pandemic, the *VRA Distinguished Service Award* was not presented last
year. A 2020 DSA recipient was selected and this award will be bestowed at
the VRA 2021 Virtual Chicago conference, along with the DeLaurier Award.
The DSA award honors an individual who has made an outstanding career
contribution to the field of visual resources and image management.

Note: Current members of the VRA Awards Committee or the Executive Board
should not write in support of nominations, nor should they be included in
nominations.

Best regards.
