Call for Applicants: ARLIS/NA Web Site Manager and ARLIS/NA Commons Manager

 

The ARLIS/NA Executive Board invites applications from the ARLIS/NA membership for two positions on the society's editorial board.

 

Editorial board appointments are approved by the vice president/president-elect in consultation with the editorial director, and report to the editorial director. The term of appointment is one year and is renewable. The incumbent receives an annual honorarium.

ARLIS/NA Web Site Manager


The ARLIS/NA Web Site (AWS) manager receives, reviews, and edits content submitted and approved for the site following established

standards and guidelines. Working with the Editorial Director, the manager is responsible for recommending and

implementing functional and design improvements to the AWS.

 

Demonstrated experience with web site design and a content management system such as Joomla! are preferred.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

• Communicates regularly with Editorial Director about proposals and overall structure of site including future development. 

• Works with headquarters information technology support staff to resolve issues with web site functionality and make recommendations

    for functional improvements.

• Oversees site usability and assessment, and critically evaluates analytics.

 Works with Editorial Director to establish website style guidelines.

• Works closely with Media Editor and ARLIS/NA Commons Manager on determining proper distribution of society information.

• Coordinates AWS updates with ARLIS/NA Headquarters as needed.

• In conjunction with the editorial director, edits content following the society’s style guidelines.

• Selects images for component pages of the AWS.

• Receives and posts annual meeting minutes from the society’s constituent groups.


ARLIS/NA Commons Manager

 

The ARLIS/NA Commons manager is responsible for soliciting, evaluating, and editing as necessary content submitted for contribution to the ARLIS/NA Commons, and for recommending functional and design improvements to the ARLIS/NA Commons and coordinating development with Humanities Commons staff.

Major Responsibilities:

• Communicates regularly with the editorial director about content, overall structure and future development of the ARLIS/NA Commons.

• Serves as chief liaison to the Humanities Commons technical support team.

• Assists society’s constituent groups with establishing discussion groups and individual sites.

• In collaboration with Humanities Commons staff, offers guidance to the society’s constituent groups regarding maintaining discussion groups and sites.

• Coordinates deposits to the CORE repository made on behalf of the society or its constituent groups. (NB: This excludes deposits made by individual members on their own behalf.)

• Monitors site usability and makes recommendations for functional enhancements.

• Works with the editorial director to establish overall style guidelines for content.

• Works closely with the media editor and ARLIS/NA website manager to determine distribution of information to appropriate ARLIS/NA communication outlets.

• Formats texts and images for ARLIS/NA Commons content following the society’s established style guidelines.

• Coordinates selection of graphics for ARLIS/NA Commons constituent group submissions.
