Hi Laura,

 

At M+ we do assign a 3-component call number.

 

  1. Location Prefix = AUC
  2. 2-letter Auction House Code, for e.g. BO, CH, PH, SO, etc.
  3. 8-digit date, for e.g. 20200824

 

In some occasion there is more than one catalogue for the same auction of the same day, we add a letter after the date, 20200824b, for distinguishing.

 

For instance, a call number may look like “AUC CH 20200824”. Feel free to comment on it.
