Hi all,

I received a number of requests to share out resources, so in addition to the resource Molly pointed out on the list, please also see:

2019 ARLIS/NA SLC session: Catalogers’ Judgments: Ethical Cataloging and Artists From Underrepresented Groups with Andrea Puccio, Allison Colborne, Meredith Hale, Treshani Perera, Kelly Swickard, and Luiza Wainer.

2020 ARLIS/NY Webinar "Why Have There Been No Great Art Libraries?: The Role of Radical Cataloging in the Reassessment of Art History" by Janna Singer-Baefsky. The following resources were also highlighted:
In addition to the resources highlighted above, the VRA Equity Action Committee's Community Hour that Molly points to is incredibly rich. I for one have signed up for their July 15 part 2 to this conversation, here.

Take care,
Emilee

Hi Emilee,

The Visual Resources Association's Equitable Action Committee is hosting a 2-part conversation on critical cataloging. The first part happened last week, but the second part will be July 15th at 2pm EDT.

A recap of the first conversation is available here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GcSpTUlOkcsGxxaHY5Qfc6icY7b4p_lP_X34rF5TaXQ/edit

Notes on their other sessions, and a link to register for the July 15th virtual event, are available on the VRA EAC website: http://vraweb.org/about/committees/equitableaction/ (Click on "Community Hour Notes").

(Please note, I am not a member of the committee, just passing along the info.)

Hope this helps!

Best wishes,

Hello all,

Is there anyone with expertise/experience with critical cataloging as it applies to art information who might point me in a fruitful direction? I've begun to talk with the director of the art museum on campus to explore some shared initiatives relating to critical information description and access across museums and libraries. Any insights you could share would be most helpful.

Take care,
Emilee
