To ARLIS/NA Members,

Do you have experience in developing exhibitions or managing exhibit projects and programs in the library environment? Do you wish there was a framework of best practices for library exhibit fabrication and administering library exhibits?  Do you want to see the professional practice of library exhibition work grow? Then, the ARLIS/NA Exhibitions SIG needs you!

In June of 2020 ARLIS/NA approved a project and service charter for the Exhibitions SIG to craft an Exhibitions Standards and Best Practices Publication for Libraries. The Exhibitions SIG needs authors and editors representing a wide perspective on library exhibition work, both from the perspective of physical and digital exhibits. This is unique from other professional organization exhibition practices because it will be crafted for the variety of exhibit types in libraries and not exclusively from the perspective of exhibition in museums or rare book and manuscript collections. 

This project is co-led by Elizabeth Meinke and Carol Ng-He. We are currently seeking 2-3 additional contributors. 

Tasks for the contributors: research and environmental scan, drafting, getting feedback from ARLIS/NA membership, presenting findings to the ARLIS/NA Board, with the end goal of having the Library Exhibitions Best Practices published on the ARLIS/NA website. We also aim to present it at the ARLIS/NA annual conference in May 2021.
