Hey everyone! My name is Amanda Acosta and I am a second-semester student in my MLIS program at UMD. This will be my first post to the server! Recently I started as the Archives and Special Collections Intern at a Baltimore university library. I've been tasked with cataloging a former professor's photographs in ArchivesSpace. There are already photography collections in the repository but this project may be a little bit more extensive in that it may result in new best practices for cataloging art objects. I've been checking out photography collections in ArchivesSpace from other institutions as well as Getty resources for CDWA and crosswalking between CDWA and DACS. Most likely we would maintain the description rules as DACS so I'm wondering if anyone has any best practices or policies they would be willing to share for cataloging art objects using DACS with a mindfulness towards fulfilling the core elements of CDWA? Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
