Dear ARLIS/NA members,
Please consider applying to join one of the Awards sub-committees!
What we do:
The Awards Committee consists of six subcommittees that award 15+ ARLIS/NA awards. There are awards for
ARLIS/NA members' research, and awards for art library students; travel awards for conference attendance and other travel; national and international awards for the best art books published each year; and an award for the Society's highest member honor,
the Distinguished Service Award. Every time the ARLIS/NA awards are presented at the annual conference convocation, I am newly humbled and impressed by the work art information professionals do, and so happy that the Society recognizes and marks these accomplishments.
What we're looking for:
We would love to have ARLIS/NA members of all levels of experience who work in all types of libraries in all geographical regions of North America join our group. Some sub-committees, such as the book awards, have membership restrictions (the Dwyer Award
sub-committee, for example, is composed of members in Canada, and the Wittenborn sub-committee is traditionally composed of members of the chapter that last hosted the annual conference), but others are open to all. If you are a recent graduate or current
student who has won a student award in the past, serving on the Student Advancement Award sub-committee is a great way to continue involvement with the Society.
For more information, please check out the following:
And, please do not hesitate to reach
out to me or any of the Awards sub-committee chairs if you have questions:
- Maria Oldal, chair of the Distinguished
Service Award sub-committee
- Suzanne Rackover, chair of the Dwyer
book award sub-committee
- Jon Evans, chair of the Wittenborn
book award sub-committee
- Andi Back, chair of the Research
Awards sub-committee
- Courtenay McLeland, chair of the
Student Advancement Awards sub-committee
- Katie Keller, chair of the Travel
Awards sub-committee
For more information about the process, please see Vice President/President-Elect Amy Trender's message to ARLIS-L from October 1st.
Best--
Karyn Hinkle
