Quarterly News from the Getty Vocabulary: April-June 2019:

It is now easier to contribute to the Getty Vocabularies. We have created an online click-through Agreement for the convenience of new contributors. Formerly, a hardcopy agreement was negotiated and signed by both parties. The formats for contributions are discussed online. For the new form, see the link from this page: http://www.getty.edu/research/tools/vocabularies/contribute.html#quick_ref .

Among the many contributions from several contributors last quarter was a contribution of 15,000 French and English terms in AAT from CHIN / RCIP (Canadian Heritage Information Network / Réseau canadien d’information sur le patrimoine (Gatineau, Quebec, Canada)) and AASLH (American Association for State and Local History (Nashville, Tennessee)). The records will be processed and published in the coming months. Also, the Vocabulary Program processed thousands of additional records contributed to ULAN from the Israel Museum Jerusalem last quarter. In our next newsletter, we hope to tell you about loads to ULAN from Belvedere (Österreichische Galerie Belvedere (Vienna, Austria)) and NMWA (National Museum of Women in the Arts (Washington, DC)), on which we are working now. German terms for artist “role” from the Belvedere ULAN contribution have already been incorporated in the AAT. Also coming soon is a validation tool, an OpenRefine Getty Vocabulary validation service.
