Call for Presenters - ARLIS/NA 2020
LGBTQ+ Special Interest Group

That’s exactly how we feel: Creating a new praxis for empowering leaders and thinkers in art librarianship

Continuing the conversation started at ARLIS 2019, the LGBTQ Special Interest Group would like to propose a workshop focusing on finding stability and confidence amongst the uncertainty and new challenges that one experiences as an art information professional. The workshop will take into account identity and experience in the workplace, and during professional transitions.

We are accepting proposals from all identities and areas to discuss how experience, identity, circumstance, and position influences and interacts with professional identities. Panelists will be asked to lead group breakout sessions within a workshop to discuss these issues in greater depth.

Possible presentation or breakout sessions can include ways in which speakers have had: successes through challenges, new leadership expectations, changeover of duties, promotion to management, anxiety to new positions, overcoming library/institution/city community boundaries, and solutions to address institution siloing.

If you are interested in presenting and leading a group discussion, please submit a brief description of your presentation, as well as ideas, takeaways, and learning objectives for a related group breakout session to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> by June 11.

Most sincerely,
