Dear ARLIS colleagues - I will be retiring today after working as an art/architecture librarian in academic, public and museum institutions for nearly 45 years –most recently as Head of the Art Department of the Smithsonian Libraries.
It has been a most rewarding career that has allowed me to build collections and curate exhibitions as well as conduct research and provide reference services to a diverse and interesting group of scholars. I am glad to have been part of this remarkable
profession. I wish you all the best – I know ARLIS will continue to explore and implement ways to promote and improve the Art Library in the future. Sincerely Stephen Van Dyk
