In response to the need for specific ethical guidance for catalogers and metadata creators, and at the direction of the Cataloging and Metadata Management
Section (CaMMS) of the American Library Association in cooperation with the Cataloguing and Indexing Group (CIG) of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals and the Canadian Committee on Cataloguing, we extend a call for volunteers
in order to form working groups of experts to inform and improve the development of best practices for addressing ethical issues in the workplace.
We anticipate all working groups will complete their work electronically, and no in-person meetings are required. This call for volunteers will be
open until May 6, 2019. Depending on interest levels, we may not have spaces for everyone who expresses interest. Groups will be assigned by mid-June and have until November 1, 2019 to investigate their topic and report back to the Steering Committee
to create a draft for exposure and comment by ALA Midwinter 2020.
