Subject: Any thoughts on this?

Our SCRC just took a request for help on a conservation problem. Has anyone seen architectural drawings backed by plastic? If so, any thoughts as to at least the “material”.

Query: Thanks for calling with your question about the architectural drawings – as you describe it, these drawings are from the 1950s, and appear to be drafting cloth supported on some sort of plastic; the drawings are deteriorating, and have a disinfectant or ammonia smell (definitely not a vinegar smell).

Help appreciated. Barbara
