Hi Everyone,

For all of you who attended my breakout session, you make remember that I said the Coming Out Stars Activity I did was an adaptation of the original one by Jeff Pierce from University of Southern California (https://lgbtrc.usc.edu/files/2015/05/Coming-Out-Stars.pdf). You'll also find the original in the Diversity Forum Zine.

I've attached my adapted activity. You are free to use it, but please credit me, and of course the original creator.

Best,

Past Chair, ARLIS/NA Ontario

I respectfully acknowledge that I live and work on the traditional territory of ýthe Neutral, Anishnaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples. The Musagetes Library, and the University of Waterloo are situated on the Haldimand Tract,
which was given by the British to the Six Nations as compensation for their role in the American Revolutionary War of Independence and for the loss of their traditional territory. Of the original 950,000 acres, only 46,000 acres (less than 5%) remains Six Nations land today. Although it is important to acknowledge the land, it is only a first step. We need to reflect and think about next steps, or else acknowledgements are merely token gestures rather than a meaningful practice. We cannot change the past, but we can continue to share in the work of healing and reconciliation, respectfully following the leadership of Indigenous communities and leaders.
