CALL FOR PAPERS
Bloomsbury Publishing is seeking submissions for the Fashion Photography Archive, an online resource containing over 750,000 catwalk, street style and backstage photographs from the late 1970s to the early 2000s. The Archive also includes in-depth articles and hundreds of designer biographies edited by Valerie Steele. It is a sister product to the award-winning Berg Fashion Library.
Articles include:
· Analysis of a key catwalk collection – an article analysing an interesting runway collection form the archive. This could include a famous Dior show or a little-known designer from the 1980s, the aim is to provide context and new perspectives on interesting or unusual designs
· Single object analysis – providing social, historical and contextual information about a key garment from a collection, an Alexander McQueen metal corset or Vivienne Westwood platforms, for example
· Analysis of the ways in which historical styles have influenced contemporary fashion
· Articles on fashion icons or well-known figures from any era who have had a demonstrable influence on fashion
· Articles on themes that regularly feature in designer collections. For example, nautical chic, camouflage, minimalism or orientalism
All articles published in the Fashion Photography Archive must relate to fashion and dress, and help to contextualise the hundreds of thousands of images in the Archive. Articles range between 1000-4000 words in length depending on the topic and article type. Topics must be global in appeal and aimed at students.
