On behalf of the ARLIS/NA executive board and in partnership with the Public Policy Committee<https://arlisna.org/organization/committees/86-public-policy-committee> and the Diversity Committee,<https://arlisna.org/organization/committees/80-diversity-committee> I endorse the ALA statement against refugee family separation: http://www.ala.org/news/press-releases/2018/06/american-library-association-outraged-refugee-family-separation-policy.

Ethical principles guide the work of librarians every day. These values provide a framework for our profession and shape the focus of our service to the community. This essential set of values includes democracy, diversity, the public good, service, and social responsibility. Libraries of all types play an essential role in the communities they serve by promoting and protecting the public good, inspiring understand and celebrating both our similarities and our differences. In a rapidly changing social and political environment, libraries and information professionals have pledged to defend the constitutional rights of all people, to value diversity, and equity, and work to promote a more just democratic society. Diversity and inclusion are fundamental values of ARLIS/NA and its members. Previous position statements have affirmed our commitment to upholding values that respect the dignity and rights of all people:
