FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEApril 10, 2018 (Santa Fe, NM) The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum announces a call for nominations for the triannual O’Keeffe Book Prize. First presented in 2009, the Book Prize acknowledges the author of a book that deepens our understanding of American Modernism. This is a book of significant impact to scholarship and cultural interest, addressing twentieth-century American Modernism and its relationship with artists, visual culture, art, architecture, design, photography, or history. The author of the selected work receives $5,000 and will be honored at an awards ceremony in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

 

Eligible books must meet the following criteria:

-          single-author book

-          focuses on twentieth-century American Modernism and its relationship with artists, visual culture, art, architecture, design, photography, or history

-          published within the past five years (2013-2017)

-          must not have won another prize at the time of nomination

 

An external jury of distinguished art scholars selects the winner. Jurors base reviews upon excellence, originality, quality of writing and scholarship, contribution to knowledge, and significance in the field.

 

To suggest a candidate for the O’Keeffe Book Prize, nominators must send a single-page letter discussing the publication’s merits based upon the stated criteria. Current and former employees of the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum are ineligible to participate. Nominations for the O’Keeffe Book Prize will close on May 31, 2018.
