Hello friends! If you have non-arts librarians asking you what this visual literacy thing is all about, send them to my NELIG Spring Program webinar on 4/4!  Free and open to everyone!

Obviously you are all welcome to join as well (not just for New Englanders!). We'll be chatting about how visual literacy fits into the info lit frameworks, share practical ideas for lessons, and take a look at some larger visual literacy initiatives.

WEBINAR

VISUAL LITERACY FOR THE INFO LIT INSTRUCTOR

Visual literacy can seem like just the latest buzzword, or a term relegated to art and museum libraries, but librarians have actually been incorporating it all along. As teachers of information literacy we expect our students to evaluate information found in text, but also how to read charts, identify bias in infographics, or tell whether a photograph has been edited.

Join academic-turned-art librarian Micki Harrington for an introduction to visual literacy outcomes, examples of the amazing work librarians are already doing, and ideas for larger initiatives at your institution.

Micki is the Art & Design Librarian at Lesley University Library.
